President’s Update – March 3, 2019

Yesterday did a tour and cheque presentation for Aspire Special Needs https://aspirespecialneeds.ca/ which is an amazing facility.

Piper Creek Optimist Club Aspire Cheque Presentation Red Deer

Our club has now donate $49,500 over the past 15 years to this Organization.

Ted Emmett has put his name out there to become the President for the next year (2019-2020)!!!!  Very exciting and the board believes he will do a hell of a job.

Sadly, Dan Huff has let us know he will be moving his business to Calgary soon and stepping down as Secretary for the board.  We thank Dan for all he has done over the years and wish him the best.  He will still be in and around Red Deer for a few more months so make sure you catch him for a beer.

Having said that, OLIVER JULL has stepped up to become the new Secretary – THANKS!!

We’ve got a few smaller donations going out this month to help a school program designed to calm kids and teach them to control their breathing as well as a sponsorship for Big Brothers Big Sisters Amazing Race event going on in April.

Finally, we will not be going through with the Hockey Challenge tournament that we’ve been discussion with the Boston Alumni game.  Location availability and cost became an issue and we ran out of time to get anything locked down.  If you had this marked off on your calendar to help, feel free to open it up!

We are looking for some more activities to help the community soon. If you want to through some ideas out for social events please do so as well because we don’t have anything formal planned until golf in June (date to be determined).
