50 Men who raise money for Red Deer & Area Youth

President’s Update – February 21/2019

Hey guys, thanks to everyone who came out tonight.  For those that hung out until the end we were entertained by college kids trying to eat Hot AF wings and making themselves sick for free wings for the year – it was really gross.

Reminder we have a cheque presentation and tour with Aspire – date is March 6th at 5pm.  I’ll send another email around in early March to confirm attendance but mark it in your calendars.

We have tentatively approved a donation to Central Middle School to purchase a couple Ipads for a student program.  The HeartMath program is a biofeedback program and breathing technique designed to help students learn to self regulate, focus in class, develop confidence and develop positive peer relationships. To learn more about the science behind the HeartMath program, please have a look at the following link: https://www.heartmath.com/science/

We mostly discuss the 3 on 3 tournament.  This is only 24 days away (the day has likely changed to Saturday March 16th).  If we are going to have a successful event we are going to need to have some volunteers step up and help us get this planned.  A BIG THANKS TO RICHIE AND RYAN FOR THERE EFFORTS SO FAR ON THIS!

Location is the first and most important issue – Abbey Center in Blackfalds is an option.  Other options discussed at the meeting were Penhold, Collicut, the army barracks downtown and Festival Hall.  Greg is going to look into the army barracks for us as that would be a pretty good option.

Once we have a space radio will start searching for teams for us.

We need people to volunteer to help for the next 3 weeks for helping with: Team registration, scheduling, treasurer and then guys signed up for the day of for refereeing and scorekeeping.  Paul Peters has volunteered to find us gear, Curtis is willing to help with some of the organizing.  If we can get 3 or 4 more guys to step up we can have a committee that can tackle this together!  Please let Richie, Ryan or myself know if you are interested.

The other item we discussed at the meeting was a minimum pledge requirement for teams (to ensure we cover our costs) and potentially doing this all on one day instead of over a whole weekend.

If anyone else has any feedback or ideas let us know!
