The Piper Creek Optimist Club of Red Deer is proud to partner with the Red Deer Rebels and the Memorial Cup Hockey Tournament in an effort to enhance the fan experience during Memorial Cup week and more importantly, to raise money in support of great local youth oriented causes.

Piper Creek Optimist Club Road Hockey Challenge

This 4 on 4 Corporate Road Hockey Challenge will be held at Westerner Grounds on the afternoons of May 22nd to May 26th, 2016. The 4 on 4 ‘Play On’ format is a non-competitive, co-ed event to be held inside the Molson House at the Prairie Pavilion next door to Fanfest and the NHL Hall of Fame Exhibit.  Entrants must be 18 years of age and older on teams with a minimum number of 7 players to play off in their very own Memorial Cup!

The Team who can raise the most money through pledges garnered can win Memorial Cup Game Tickets (Maximum of 12). The Road Hockey Challenge will be limited to 16 Teams, so enter early to save your spot and give your team the most opportunity to raise funds in support of our community. Entry deadline is April 30th, 2016.

The Piper Creek Optimist club was chartered back in 1985 and has been a big part of the Red Deer service club community for the past 30 years. We have played a significant role in developing and supporting programs such as DARE (Drug Abuse and Resistance Education), the Youth and Volunteer Center, Cures for Kids Cancer Campaign and Camp Quality and projects like Aspire (Children’s Services Center), the Red Deer Public Library and the Special Care Nursery in the Red Deer Regional Hospital among many others.

  • Limit of 16 Co-ed Recreational Teams age 18 years of age and older.
  • Minimum 7 member Teams.
  • 4 on 4 Road Hockey format.
  • All Games indoors inside the Prairie Pavilion Memorial Cup Beer Gardens. Approximate times will be 12 – 4 pm.
  • Come enjoy our Canadian Sport, Memorial Cup Fanfest and the NHL Hall of Fame Exhibit.
